November Update!

November is usually when we're getting ready for conferences and the end of the marking period, but this time around, I am going to share updates and requests on the blog instead!

1. Shoe Tying: If your child is still working on learning to tie their shoes (or perhaps has not begun yet), now is a good time to work on this! I absolutely will always help kids when they need, but tying 20 sets of laces can get a little hectic. :) This is a good life skill to practice, anyway!

2. Please make sure your child is wearing weather-appropriate clothing! We need to be sure that we are taking the kids out properly dressed for safety. We do try to go out regardless of the temperature, as long as it's above 32 degrees (depending on the wind chill).

3. Please be sure to send your child's folder in each day!

4. As you've seen, a mini-book will be coming home with the kids to practice skills we are working on in Magnetic Reading. We will work through the skill in class and you can also work on this at home. 

5. VETERAN'S DAY: NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, 11/11/25.

Veteran's Day Assembly - Monday 11/10 at 9:30am

We are thrilled to host our Veteran's Day Assembly on Monday, November 10^th at 9:30 am for students, parents, and community members. We are excited to invite our Northeast Community Veterans to the event to be honored in person. Please reach out to Linda Gibson in our office if you are a veteran, or a special person in your life is, and would like to take part. 

*We welcome our Northeast Stars to dress in Red, White, and Blue for the day!  

7. Field Trip: We are going to the Bruce Museum for "Our Rocks, Our World: Local Geology". We will go on NOVEMBER 19TH, from 9:15a - 1:30p. Permission Slips are going home today! We will be taking chaperones with us. Please send a message if you'd like to chaperone, and I will get back to you once I've (randomly) chosen! 

CHILDREN WILL NEED A BAGGED LUNCH FROM HOME! WE WILL EAT AT THE MUSEUM. *If your child will not be able to bring lunch from home, please send me a note, and I can order bagged lunch for them from the cafeteria. I need to know a week ahead of time in order to be able to do this, so please let me know soon!

WE WILL NOT PLAN TO GO INTO THE GIFT SHOP, SO STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO BRING MONEY WITH THEM. 

8. Thanksgiving is coming up! We have a half day on 11/26. Right now, my plan is to have a Thanksgiving celebration on 11/25. This will be for the students only, aside from a couple of parents I would plan to have in as helpers. I am working with the other teachers to decide what we would like to plan, and then we will let you know. Thanks for your patience with this.
